Prayer Wall

My church is putting on an event this weekend called Revive.  They will have crafts, a bounce house, music and prayer.  The church was worried that everyone would get caught up in the games and forget the purpose of the event - Prayer.  The leader of the event (a wonderfully sweet man named Kenny) came up with the coolest way to keep prayer at the forefront.  They built a wall that goes around the corner of the property and they have invited the community to write their prayers on the wall.

I like it because it's not intimidating like church can sometimes feel to people who haven't been in awhile.  It's not about knowing the rules, dressing the right way or saying the right thing.  It's about telling God honestly what worries are in your heart and trusting that He will listen.  Personally, I think that's what God cares about the most.  He wants a relationship with us that is honest and real.  I don't think he needs all the pomp and circumstance.

I took my boys there today so that we could add our prayers.  My oldest thanked God for trains while my youngest scribbled on the sidewalk.  We read some of the prayers and talked about how great it is to have a God that loves us so much. I am not sure how much they understand but the details are not as important as we sometimes make them.  As long as they know they are loved and will always be forgiven, I think that will serve as a strong foundation for my sons.

I found a verse in my dad's handwriting that I would like to share with you today.  I don't know a single Bible verse by heart so I took a picture to keep it with me in times of struggle.  I hope it lifts up your heart and reminds you that, no matter what, God is there for you.
