Express Yourself

My little one (1 year old) seems to be very creative.  He has shown an interest in both art and music since he was only a few months old by bobbing his head to a beat he likes or pointing at crayons so that he can play with them.  My oldest acts like I am punishing him anytime I bring out a craft project so this is a totally new experience for me.  I wanted to find something easy and non-toxic that he can do anytime.

We were playing near our sliding glass doors and I remembered how my mom used to leave loving notes on the bathroom mirror.  She used magic markers and it would come right off with a wet rag.  My little one and I decided to give it a shot.

He loved the way the marker worked on the glass.

It kept him busy for about 30 minutes as we picked new colors and watched how they looked different on paper and on the glass.

The mirror and his chubby cheeks cleaned up quickly and he was able to have a bit of time to express himself.

We all need to do that every once in awhile.  It doesn't need to be complicated.  It doesn't have to take  a lot of resources.  But it does need to be done.  Take a look around and find how you can express yourself today.  Rearrange a bookshelf or a whole room.  Start that project you have put on the backburner.  Make something wonderful to eat that you have been dying to try.  Express yourself.

How do you express yourself creatively?
